LAMONT’S MUSIC NOTES SEPTEMBER 16, 2019- IT WAS 1983 AND DEF LEPPARD WAS ON “THE PYROMANIA WORLD TOUR.” THE ALBUM PYROMANIA HAD JUST BLOWN UP IN TERMS OF SALES ( IT EVENTUALLY WENT ON TO SELL OVER 10 MILLION COPIES) AND THIS WAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST TOURS IN THE COUNTRY. IT WAS ALSO DEF LEPPARD’S FIRST TOUR AS A HEADLINER.
IT ALSO MARKED THE FIRST TOUR WITH GUITARIST PHIL COLLEN ( HE REPLACED ORIGINAL MEMBER PETE WILLIS, KICKED OUT OF THE BAND FOR ALCOHOL ABUSE). IT WAS 36 YEARS AGO AND THE BAND WRAPPED UP THE TOUR WITH 2 CONSECUTIVE SHOWS AT THE OAKLAND ARENA.
