HAPPY BDAY TO GUITARIST MICK TAYLOR

LAMONT’S MUSIC NOTES-JAN 17, 2020… HAPPY 71ST BIRTHDAY TO MICK TAYLOR, ONE OF THE BEST DAMN GUITARISTS THAT WAS EVER PART OF THE ROLLING STONES. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE ROLLING STONES FROM 1969-1974 AND APPEARED ON CLASSIC STONES ALBUMS LIKE ‘LET IT BLEED’, ‘STICKY FINGERS’ ‘EXILE ON MAIN STREET’ AND ‘IT’S ONLY ROCK N’ ROLL’. THERE WERE MANY REASONS GIVEN FOR TAYLOR LEAVING THE BAND. IT’S BEEN STATED HE WAS PROMISED WRITING CREDITS FOR SOME OF THE SONGS HE WORKED ON AND THEN DIDN’T RECEIVE THEM. ANOTHER REASON WAS HE LEFT TO PROTECT HIS FAMILY FROM THE DRUG CULTURE THAT SURROUNDED THE STONES. WHATEVER THE REASON, TAYLOR ANNOUNCED HE WAS LEAVING THE GROUP IN DECEMBER OF 1974 AT A PARTY, AND IT COMPLETELY CAUGHT THE GROUP BY SURPRISE. HE WAS EVENTUALLY REPLACED BY RON WOOD.HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MICK TAYLOR, GUITARIST EXTRAORDINAIRE ! HERE’S VINTAGE STONES WITH TAYLOR EXCHANGING RIFFS WITH KEITH RICHARDS CIRCA 1972 DURING A BAND REHEARSAL.
