HONKY TONK WOMEN

LAMONT’S MUSIC NOTES-JULY 11, 2019…EIGHT DAYS AFTER BEING RELEASED IN THE U.K. THE ROLLING STONES RELEASED ‘HONKY TONK WOMEN.’ IT WAS A SINGLE ONLY RELEASE BY THE GROUP, ALTHOUGH A “COUNTRIFIED” VERSION OF THE SONG LATER APPEARED ON THE ALBUM LET IT BLEED.’

HONKY TONK WOMEN IS A SONG ABOUT A PROSTITUTE. MICK JAGGER WOULD SOMETIMES INTRODUCE IT AS BEING “A SONG FOR ALL THE WHORES IN THE AUDIENCE.”

THE B-SIDE FOR THIS SINGLE WAS THE EPIC ‘YOU CAN’T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT’

THIS ALSO MARKED THE FIRST SONG MICK TAYLOR MADE AN APPEARANCE WITH AFTER REPLACING BRIAN JONES IN THE STONES LINE-UP. TAYLOR CLAIMS HE CAME UP WITH THE FAMOUS RIFF, EVEN THOUGH RICHARDS PLAYS IT. IT’S ONE HELL OF A DEBUT MUSICALLY
