LAMONT’S MUSIC NOTES SEPTEMBER 12, 2019-LIGHT 67 BIRTHDAY CANDLES TODAY FOR DRUMMER NEIL PEART. PEART IS BEST KNOWN AS THE LYRICIST AND ALL WORLD DRUMMER FOR RUSH. HE ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT FROM MUSIC IN AN INTERVIEW WITH “DRUMHEAD MAGAZINE” ON DECEMBER 7TH, 2015. THE BAND’S 2016 DOCUMENTARY ‘TIME STAND STILL’ REVEALED PEART WAS BATTLING THROUGH ENORMOUS PHYSICAL PAIN THROUGHOUT MUCH OF THE TOUR. GEDDY LEE LATER REVEALED IN AN INTERVIEW:

“Neil was struggling throughout that tour to play at his peak, because of physical ailments and other things that were going on with him. And he is a perfectionist, and he did not want to go out and do anything less than what people expected of him. That’s what drove him his whole career, and that’s the way he wanted to go out, and I totally respect that.”

PEART IS ALSO A WRITER, AND HIS MOST FAMOUS BOOK IS “GHOST RIDER” WHERE PEART TELLS THE STORY OF LOSING HIS 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TO A CAR ACCIDENT AND HIS WIFE TO CANCER AND A BROKEN HEART IN THE SAME YEAR.
