Camp Fire in Butte County has caused thousands of homes to be lost and 60 people have died with several still missing. We Fund A Hero is non-profit raising money for the first responders who have lost everything in the fires and continue to protect their communities despite suffering significant loss. These Heroes are proud men and women and never ask for help even though they are suffering as much if not more than all the victims.
One of the biggest issues We Fund A Hero is running into is donor fatigue. People are tired of being inundated with requests for donations and to help with various GoFundMe campaigns (many of which are fraudulent) and therefore are numb when it comes to another non-profit asking for more money. So we face an uphill battle at a time when donations are very much needed. Last year We Fund A Hero raised over $400k for California first Responders with 97% going directly to victims.
