LAMONT’S MUSIC NOTES-JAN 24, 2020…TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO VAN HALEN RELEASED THE ALBUM “BALANCE”. IT WAS THE BAND’S 10TH STUDIO RELEASE, AND THE 4TH ALBUM TO FEATURE SAMMY HAGAR AS THE LEAD SINGER. COINCIDENTALLY ‘BALANCE’ ALSO MARKED FOUR CONSECUTIVE #1 ALBUMS FOR THE GROUP. IT WAS ALSO THE BAND’S LAST STUDIO ALBUM WITH SAMMY HAGAR AS THE LEAD SINGER. IT REACHED NUMBER ONE ON THE CHARTS WITHIN 3 WEEKS OF DEBUTING ON THE CHARTS, AND SOLD OVER 3 MILLION COPIES. THE PHOTO ON THE FRONT COVER OF TWINS ON THE TEETER TOTTER WAS MANUFACTURED FROM TWO PHOTOS OF THE SAME CHILD. THE PICTURE WAS PHOTOSHOPPED TO APPEAR AS CONJOINED TWINS. IT WAS RUMORED TO BE A PHOTO OF WOLFGANG VAN HALEN, BUT IT SHOULD BE NOTED IT IS NOT WOLFIE. DESPITE THE OVERWHELMING SUCCESS OF THE RECORD THE INFIGHTING WITHIN THE BAND WAS AT EPIC PROPORTIONS, AND AFTER THE BALANCE TOUR, MEMBERS WENT THEIR SEPARATE WAYS , ONLY TO REUNITE ONE MORE TIME FOR A 2004 TOUR THAT SAMMY HAGAR DESCRIBED AS “some of the most miserable, back-stabbing dark crap I’ve ever been involved with my whole life.”
HERE’S A SONG FROM BALANCE THAT SAMMY HAGAR WROTE ABOUT HIS EX-WIFE(FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF HIS EX-WIFE)
