WTF? Doctors at the Anand Rishi Hospital in India spent more than three hours operating on this young man to remove a car key stuck in his skull. The man was involved in a fight which led to a car key piercing one and a half inches into his brain. Luckily for him, he didn't suffer serious internal bleeding.
On this date in ‘94 the Eagles played the first of two shows where they recorded their "Hell Freezes Over" album. It was a reunion that nobody thought would happen.
The name of the album and tour was taken from an earlier quote by Glenn Frey, who responded to the question "When will the Eagles get back together?"
Here’s video from the session that resulted in an excellent acoustic version of “HOTEL CALIFORNIA”

On this day in 1989, Tom Petty released his first solo album (away from the Heartbreakers)
The album was “Full Moon Fever”. Here’s Petty performing “Free Fallin” at the Shoreline Amphitheater in 1994.
On this day in 1971 The Rolling Stones released the album “Sticky Fingers”. One of the greatest and in my opinion underrated Stones songs, appeared on this album. That song is “BITCH”, and here’s an extended version from the official Stones video site. I love this version, because it seems the mix is a little more raw. Enjoy
On this day 45 years ago, Pink Floyd's “The Dark Side of the Moon” was certified gold in the U.S. for the first time.
The album has since gone on to sell an estimated 45 million copies and downloads, and is is Pink Floyd's most commercially successful album. Courtesy of the Pink Floyd Channel, here’s the entire “Dark Side of the Moon” concert from London in 1994.
On this day in 1993, the NYPD was doing a sweep of drug buyers and pushers in Washington Square Park. One of the people they arrested turned out to be David Lee Roth, who was busted after scoring some "Jamaican bunk reefer". What’s ironic is Roth told a radio interviewer when he left Van halen in 1992, the reason he left was his “disgust over band members using drugs.” Here’s a report from 1993 reporting on the bust
Two years ago Metallica released the remastered versions of their first two albums “Kill Em All” and “Ride the Lightning” Here’s a great version of “For Whom The Bell Tolls” , performed at the “Day on the Green” in 1985.
Happy Birthday Ritchie Blackmore. This is amazing video….It was just released last year from the Deep Purple vaults it looks like a home movie with board-fed sound of Deep Purple playing in Japan in 1972. Blackmore’s guitar work is FANTASTIC !
